Super CitizensWe’re proud to announce our most recent Super Citizens. These students were recognized for their consistent use of Good Judgement: Kingston Privetts, Jackson New, Eva Bullins, Lexi McBride, Abigail Joyce, LeMarkus Simmons, Levi Fowler, Daisy Collins, Joel Garcia-Lopez and Justin Cardwell. We are proud of these students.
Spelling Bee Champ Does Well
Reagan Dixon, our school spelling bee champ, did very well at the county-wide bee. She finished in the top 4 out of 14 schools. The county bee included students in grades 3-8. This year’s competition lasted for 52 rounds! Two of the final 4 were middle school students. The winner, Drew Nail, is an eighth grade student at Chestnut Grove Middle. This is Drew’s fourth county win! So Reagan’s top four finish, as a third grader, is quite impressive against very stiff competition. Congrats Reagan!
Our Kindergarten registration will be held on Monday, March 19th. If you, or someone you know, has a child who will turn 5 by August 31, 2018, please contact our main office. Once we have contact information, we’ll mail out additional registration information.
Love The Bus Week
This week, we have the opportunity to show our bus drivers how much we appreciate them. We are blessed to have the best bus drivers in the world!!! Please be sure to let them know how much you love and appreciate them and the very difficult job that they seem to make look so easy!!! Thank you Anna Tilley, JamesWood, Susan Tucker, Wayne Moore and Tammie Lawson. WE APPRECIATE YOU!!!!
Town Hall Meeting
Dr. Rice, superintendent of Stokes County Schools, is hosting the final in a series of three Town Hall Meetings. The goal of these meetings is to get feedback from all stakeholders on how we can make our school system better. The meeting will be held TONIGHT at North Stokes High School. The meeting will last approximately an hour, beginning at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited.
Progress reports are scheduled to go out on February 15th. The date for progress reports will not be adjusted unless we have more bad weather.
Our lunch charges continue to be very high. We understand that families forget and we also understand that families have many financial responsibilities/obligations. We cannot, however, ignore these charges. Letters with specific amounts (if more than $5.00) went home with students. If you received one of these letters, please take care of these charges as soon as possible. If you need to set up a payment plan, please contact Mr. Ottaway or Mrs. Southard. We will be happy to work with you.
Baseball/Softball Sign Ups
Lawsonville Baseball/Softball sign ups will be held on the following dates:
February 24th from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. in the gym during basketball games
This is for anyone interested in playing t-ball, baseball or softball. The cost is $60.00 for the first child and $50.00 for additional children.
School Spirit Night at River Rock Cafe
Our next school spirit night at River Rock Cafe is Thursday, February 15th. Mr. Charleville will donate 10% of all proceeds to our school. Drop by anytime between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to enjoy some great food and help our school at the same time.
Do you have small toys that you would like to get rid of? This could include happy meal toys, or other small trinkets. These would be perfect for fall festival prizes! Feel free to donate them to PTA! You can see a PTA member or officer to donate them!
Ongoing project: READY, SET, READ! We will be holding our first ever book drive in the library. You may donate gently used or new books in the bin in the library. This will last the entire month of February. Before submitting books, please check for marks, missing pages, etc.
